Armando Galarraga took a no-hitter into the sixth inning against the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday and didn’t get a victory. The Detroit Tigers didn’t seem to mind. The unheralded rookie tired in the seventh, but was still effective enough to help the Tigers to a 6-4 victory. Any day now, Detroit may be able to field—for the first time this season—the lineup it envisioned in spring training.

That won’t happen until new third baseman Carlos Guillen returns from a sore knee suffered when he fouled a ball off two games ago. Guillen could barely walk Thursday night and sat out Friday as well. He could return Saturday, about a 50-50 call, or Sunday.

Gary Sheffield, out most of the week with sore shoulders, returned as Detroit’s designated hitter Friday night and second baseman Placido Polanco played his second game in a row after missing most of the week due to lower back stiffness.

Center fielder Curtis Granderson has played three games, missing the first 21 of the season with a broken bone in his hand.
